Small Group Counseling
Small group guidance in a confidential setting is an excellent way for each participant to share their strengths with their peers while learning more about themselves and their relationships. Teachers, administrators, or parents may refer students for group. Also, some students may express an interest in being a part of group. If your child is invited to participate in a group, a permission form will be sent home. This must be signed and returned for a student to participate.
Groups are formed around students with similar areas of growth and topics vary for each group and grade level. Meetings take place once per week during the respective grade level lunch or Focused Instruction Time (FIT). If your student receives other interventions (RTI pull outs or other Lunch Bunches) during this time, group will require that they miss the other meetings once per week. Groups normally meet for 5-6 weekly meetings and members remain the same. On occasion group may be extended beyond the initial meetings so that group members may continue their progress. If not, the grade level team will be consulted for additional names of student who might benefit from being in a small group.
If you are interested in you child being a part of a group or if you have any questions about the topics addressed in group, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
